THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY: Vailima Primary School students with members from the Auckland Community.

The Vailima Primary School received more than $72,000 from the Vaoala and Vailima communities in New Zealand last week.

According to a representative of the Vaoala and Vailima Auckland community, Papali’itele Pua’asegisegi Lafulafu Peo, their community in New Zealand agreed to raise this money because they know it’s for a good cause.

“The school committee asked us for only $70,000, but instead of that we managed to collect $72,000,” said Papali’itele.

Papali’itele said the whole purpose for the money is to help rebuild the school building.

“This is where I went to school when I was young, so where ever we go, we will always think about this place.”

He also said it only took them three months to collect the $72,000 with the support of their community members in New Zealand.

Moemaitu Mile Malotau a representative of the school committee, thanked the New Zealand community for their kind assistance.

“We are so grateful that they managed to lend a helping hand to us,” said Moemaitu.

Moemaitu said the money will help them pay for the carpenters, and will also help fund their computer room.

The school committee is hoping that they will get a grant from the J.I.C.A. to build them with the new school building.

Vailima Primary School was set up in the year 1954 by some of the great leaders of the village for the sake of the young children.

And this school building is the third replacement building since it was first established.
