STAGES OF A CYCLONE

By Jackie Fa’asisila 18 July 2016, 12:00AM

Cyclones come in stages

Winds and rain lash out

Hearts fear the dreaded day

Another cyclone is about

Warnings turn to watches

Prepared as we can be

No one can control the power

unleashed so violently

Trees wave branches affably

Bowing to a greater power

They have no way to brace themselves

Or know their final hour

Destruction comes in stops and starts

We know not who calls each play

We only sit and wait to hear

What the next report will say

Or insist on staying here

Causing untold damage

Devastation, loss, and fear?
