When you are a mother, your first job is to nurture your children and provide for them however you can.

Your children become your life.

For Miriama Latu from the village of Toamua-uta, that is exactly what she is doing.

Aged 30, Miriama works hard everyday for her children.

“My only hope and dream is for my children and family to have a good life,” she told the Village Voice.

Working as a farmer, the mother of six kids says it matters not what you do for a living, but how hard you work.

“If you teach your children the right way then you won’t have anything to worry about,” she said.

“Their well being will reflect what you have taught them so make sure you do right by them."

“My ultimate goal right now is to be able to make enough every day to take care of the family."

“My husband and I are farmers and that is our only source of income. I sell green coconuts here every day to earn some money."

“I wake up early in the morning and start working at about 7:30 and finish up late in the afternoon."

“After selling theses green coconut, at home I have other duties."

“The harder I work, the more I can look after my family. My children are too young and they will need my support every day.”

Miriama is a hard-working mother.

“Even though there are times that we don’t have enough money, I still work hard. My children are my priority. I will starve and give them food if I have to. That is my life’s dedication.”

Miriama agrees that the cost of living is expensive.
