Samoa welcomed more visitors yesterday when a cruise ship belonging to P&O Cruises docked at Matautu wharf for a one-day visit.

The vessel is a British and American cruise line based at Carnival House in Southampton, England, operated by Carnival U.K. and owned by Carnival Corporation.

P & O Cruises is the oldest cruise line in the world, having operated the world’s first commercial passenger ships in the early 19th century. 

“We set off from England in February this year and we’re enjoying every single bit of this life time journey,” Anne and Paul from the United Kingdom told the Weekend Observer.

“This is our first time here in Samoa, and we are looking forward to coming back again and staying for two weeks.

“The weather is a little bit hot but we love it here. This really is the trip of a lifetime.”

Mr. and Mrs. Baker from York England agree.

“I had heard so much about Samoa and I’ve always wanted to come but it wasn’t possible until I finally had a chance last February to hop inside the ship.

 “I had been looking forward to coming here and here I am, finally to one of many places I had been admiring from afar.”

Baker said the visit was too short.

“It’s a beautiful place.

“I’m sure everyone is enjoying our short visit today, and the people here are very friendly. You know what, their facial expressions says it all.

 “We’d love to come back again and experience more of the culture.”

Passengers were mostly from America, Australia and United Kingdom.

The Cruise ship left Samoa yesterday evening.
