Three students are in Police custody following a school brawl at Savalalo on Monday.

This was confirmed by the Police media officer, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona, yesterday.

“We thought that giving them chances will teach them a lesson but that hasn't happened,” he said.

“These students are not learning so we believe that the only way some of them will learn is if we take them up to Tafaigata and keep them in custody.”

The Media Officer added that one of the biggest problems is old students who have nothing to do.

Maotaoalii said these are the students inciting the fights and they are using mobile phones to create problems.

Asked why there are only three students in custody, Maota said they could only charge them based on the evidence they have.

“We are asking members of the public to work with us,” he said, adding that some students think they can get away with such behavior in public.

“I blame the parents sometimes. It is their duty to discipline their children,” Maota added

The Police Commissioner has already met with School Principals of the colleges involved and they have given an undertaking to do their part to resolve inter school violence.
