Lovers, couples, family and friends were serenaded by the soothing voices of live performances from Lanzwel and Soul Capital at Le Manumea on Valentine’s Day.

But the star of the show was Samoan singing sensation, Lole Usoali’i, who is renowned for her hit song “Tu i Luga (Arise)”.

Ms. Usoali’i helped coordinate the night’s events to also fundraise for the Pasefika Trust.

“This event is set up to help the Pasefika Trust that was set up to help young people through the platform of the creative arts.”

She has a passion for music and is working on bringing back live music to the Samoan stage.

“My background is in music in New Zealand so we decided to do a night on Valentines night to fundraise and bring live music back into Samoa.”

“And to lift the musician ship and great live music.”

Ms. Usoali’i has been busy as of late. As a performer and mentor, she is preparing to go on tour in July. However this time, she is planning on taking performers from Samoa with her.

“I’m going on tour in July. Part of that tour is to take young people from here so they can experience tour life. We’re taking singers, dancers, filmmakers.”

“One of the things we want to do in Samoa is create a platform where we can teach kids to be great singers and great musicians and expose them to another level of musicianship.”

“We’re going to the States and take our culture and showcase our culture, language and arts and showcase what makes us Samoan.”

Her piece of advice for aspiring artists in Samoa, “If that’s your passion, then do it.”
