Education is the key.

For Matagofie Natura, 20-years old, from Alafua, he is on his way.

The young man is studying at the National University of Samoa  for a Bachelor of Commerce and he believes that every success in life starts with a good education.

“I’m thankful that I’ve finally come to the end of my school life this year, hopefully,” he told Village Voice yesterday.

Matagofie is from Savaii. But he is staying at Alafua to be closer to his school.

“Life as a student is very hard,” he said.

“Sometimes I felt tired and weak, but my parents taught me that school is very important. When you have a qualification, it’s easy to find a job and have a better life for the future.”

He says his parents are his role models.

They have been his number one supporters, providing for his school fees and everything he needs.

“All of my siblings live in Savai’i,” he said.

“I’m the only one who lives in Apia and it motivates me to study hard and work harded this year so that I can give them the best results to make them proud of me and my achievements.”

Matagofie understands that the cost of living is too high but he said there is nothing we can do about it.

“Everyone knows it but whom else to blame?”

“Life moves on and so does the cost of living.”

Living in Apia is far different from life in Savaii.

“Changes occur but I challenge my mind to go hard in school and put God first because nothing is impossible with God. Even though it’s hard living without  my parents but I trust God.”

He also wants to share a simple message for the readers:

“All the students out there, go hard in your studies and work hard, think of our parents and families but most of all, put God first then you will succeed in life.”
