The body of a young man found dead and afloat at sea at Leauva’a on Monday afternoon remains unidentified.

According to the Police Media Officer, Su’a Lemamea Tiumalu, the man is suspected to be in his 30s but to date, no one has come forward to identify him.

Su’a said there is a flower tattoo on man’s his right shoulder and the word ‘warrior’.

“We have put out notifications informing the public that if anyone is missing a family member, they should contact the Ministry of Police as soon as possible,” said Su’a.

Su’a said the deceased’s body was discovered by youth members of Lea’uva’a who were playing volleyball at the Methodist compound.

The Police Post at Afega was contacted and the body was brought back to the hospital for investigation.

Su’a said police are still continuing their investigations but they are hoping that someone will come to identify him.

“There were scratch marks on his chest and a post mortem has been requested.”

Su’a said Police will continue notifying members of the public and there is a possibility that they will extend their search to our neighboring countries.
