The Toleafoa Service Station at Fagali’i is finally open for business.

During a ceremony yesterday led by Fagali’i Tai Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (CCCS) Pastor, Rev. Petaia Leavai, the business was officially opened, witnessed by family and friends.

Cutting of the ribbon by Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau followed by a few words on the event.

“We have now witnessed the opening of this project and I believe this will benefit the people of our village, our churches, our village, and our country as a whole. As our reverend said: ‘works done with the Lord is work that is blessed’,” said the former Member of Parliament.

According to Aimaleaga Aiono Afese, who represented the company and family, the project took about four months to complete and cost around $670,000 tala.

“The whole motive behind this project was to share our blessings from the Lord. We made this project with the aim to provide more job opportunities for our people,” he said.

“We already have a number of employees due to work here, both the store and the gas station; 10 from Fagali’i and 20 from Vailele and Letogo,” he told Sunday Observer.

Subsequently, Fagali’i village mayor Samau Ielu Lokeni thanked the company for the development in the village, confirming the belief that it will benefit not only the company but also the village folks.

“We have been waiting for something like this to come into our village, and now it has happened, providing a better chance for not only Fagali’i but also our neighboring villages through offering jobs and such,” he said.

Aimaleleaga said the project had been in the pipeline for a while but he had to meet the village and neighboring residents first.

“This was not an easy project but we have managed to push through and we thank God for having us make it through as he makes things easy for us.”

“We thank our parents also for starting all of these businesses initially where we are now standing up to take over and expand further,” he added.
