The Samoa National Youth Council (S.N.Y.C.) has a new President.

He is Kevin Lucky, who was appointed during the Council’s Annual General Meeting at the Development Bank of Samoa (D.B.S.) building yesterday.

Mr. Lucky, the Director of Events Marketing Distribution Company Limited (E.M.D. Com Lt), said he is humbled to have been appointed to the role. His involvement with the organization dates back to 2015.

“Glory all goes to God for this new role I’m playing in S.N.Y.C,” he said.

“There were many challenges when I was vice President but I’m proud to serve and lead the youth alongside the Board, to make a difference in our communities.”

The President wants to continue the good work that has been done, with the Council’s target of empowering the youth of Samoa to make a difference.

“By making a difference, we plan to gather the youths from around our country through each village representative, and we provide for what we think is worthy to help them make a difference in their communities.”

He also laid out their plans.

“We’re really working on the membership in all aspects, building capacity and increasing the number of members hopefully because the donors look at how huge the number of members is,” he said.

The Council has members from many villages but Mr. Lucky wants that number to increase.

The S.N.Y.C.  is a Non Government Organisation established in 2012 to be the focal office for youth-led activities in Samoa.

Currently there are 132 Village Youth Representatives who are members of the Council.

Every quarter the Council carries out Quarterly Forums with its members to discuss youth issues and projects that the Secretariat carries out.

These forums are also used to carry out awareness campaigns/programs to help build the knowledge and capacity of the members.
