Friendship and people best part about island paradise

It was never our sandy beaches or the perfect painted blue skies that startled Julia Paschal; it was the value of friendship she found here in Samoa.

“The highlight of my trip would be how people interact here in Samoa. The way people interact here is just so different compared to the westernised country,” Julia told Dear Tourist yesterday.

“Everyone is so close and knows each other really well which is really different because some of my relationships in the US are superficial. They are only friends with you because of your resources and things like that.”

Julia was born in Hong Kong but was adopted by an American couple and now she considers herself a Texas girl.

The 20-year-old is quite absorbed into the Samoan culture because of the friends she’s made in our shores.

She loves to travel around the world, the only island that she had been to is Hawaii and this time around, she decided to check out the south.

“So I heard Samoa was a really beautiful place. I have been to Hawaii before and I got the vibe of Pacific Islands, I figured I would go to another island that is more south.”

With only six days that she has been in Samoa, Julia is able to share her experiences with the two different islands that she visited.

“There is a big difference between Samoa and Hawaii. The Hawaiian people are a bit lost with their culture unlike how it is here even though I have not seen much but the culture is very rich,” Julia commented.

Regardless of the short break before Christmas, she has enjoyed every bit of her stay.

“I enjoy having the new friends that I have met, get to stroll around the market and to the beach which was really cool. This trip has been very short but it was good. I am planning of going to Tosua this weekend before I leave on Monday.”
