The hand written boarding passes for Samoa Airways passengers out of Auckland, New Zealand, is part of teething problems the airline is working to fix.
So said Samoa Airway’s General Manager, Seiuli Alvin Tuala, who reminds that “Rome was not built overnight.”
In a statement issued by the government’s Press Secretary, Seiuli says he welcomes constructive criticisms. He is also receptive to viral disapprovals less than a day into the Samoa Airways airline’s debut.
Under the microscope already is the manual check-in system. Boarding passes are hand printed.
“It’s a teething problem and it’s being dealt with. We should alleviate the setback as soon as possible and remove any inconvenience to our passengers and travelling public,” said Seiuli. “Rome was not build overnight.”
Seiuli noted that for the national carrier to meet the six-month timeline sanctioned government for Samoa Airways to become a reality speak volumes and he had anticipated a lot of problems and setbacks.
But what is important is that Samoa has an airline of her own to be proud of, he added.
“We are back in the air and all we are asking for is for a little time,” said the GM. “On behalf of the Polynesian Airlines Board of Directors and Government I sincerely request the patience and understanding of our patriots.
“This is your airline and we must appreciate that sense of ownership that Samoa Airways is 150% Samoan and for Samoans. We deeply need your support and patience.”
He reassured that the manual-ticketing setback should be resolved within the next week or so.
