Good food and great people.

That sums up Samoa for Marcus and Janica who have thoroughly enjoyed their Samoan experience in three weeks.

From Utah, U.S.A. Marcus is no stranger to Samoa. But this is Janica’s first time.

A returned L.D.S Missionary, he served in Savai’i, Upolu, Tutuila and Manu’a.

“I had to bring my wife to Samoa, to show her the uniqueness of this place, and how everything here is just beautiful and the loving people,” he said.

“Just the laid back life here too and we wanted to get away from America where it’s so busy, its where everyone is running around with their heads cut off, basically.

“You come here it’s so laid back and everyone is friendly.

“That’s why I wanted to bring my family here. The first experience was so nice, I had to come back with my wife,” said Marcus.

The American couple are expecting their first child and wanted to go on a vacation before they entered parenthood.

Janica said they had the most amazing time in the country.

“Samoa is stunningly beautiful, we have been to Hawaii a few times and Samoa is way better in so many ways.

“It’s really crowded there….. in Samoa you have all the beaches to yourself and its not like that in Hawaii. Everyone is super friendly, way friendlier than people back home. It’s been nice since our first day here…we got to experience the traditional food and my favorite is palusami with taro, cannot go wrong with that,” said Janica.

“There was a Samoan guy that works at the resort we stayed at and given that Marcus speaks Samoan, we ended up having dinner with his family and I loved it.”

For Marcus, coming back , he noted numerous developments in Samoa. “Back then, we drove on the right side of the roads and there were not that many street lights.

“But all that is kind of new to me.

“Also the changes with the Police and their services, back then you hardly see any officers, but this time around, they ride around in motorbikes and there are many of them seen in public areas, which is really good.

“I remember telling my wife I know Samoa in the back of my head, I would go anywhere and not get lost.

“But when I returned, there are so many changes with the buildings and other developments.

“It’s definitely a place to come back to as long as we save money to return.  And its totally worth saving and the budgeting overtime to come to Samoa,” he said.

“I always have a place in my heart for Samoa.”
