I feel for you

Dear Editor,

Re: Joseph Parker’s mother

I feel deeply in my heart for Joseph Parker’s mother.

I have supported Joseph Parker from when I first heard of him and watched all his fights since.

I am always cheering for him to win his fights. Even if Joseph struggles to win a fight I will still support him whatever the outcome.

I have paid my fair share of money to watch all his fights live on “Main Event” so this is my form of support.

There is no doubt that 100% of Samoans support Joseph Parker with all their heart also because he is representing Samoa.

The criticism I have read online is not directed to Joseph Parker directly but to the Samoa Prime Minister’s misuse of his power and also by conflict of interest to support some Samoan sports people and yet other Samoans are not supported financially.

The other criticism is every day we read of many Samoans crying out for basic needs such as water, electricity and any job yet are completely ignored by the current government.

I know as a parent it is very difficult and so unfair to hear or read criticisms about your own child when they are doing their very best to represent all of Samoa.

I wish Joseph Parker all the best in his future fights and thank you for carrying Samoa’s flag overseas.

Joseph is already a champion to many young Samoans locally and overseas. He will inspire many Samoans to become champions in whatever sport they represent.

May God bless you and your son! Malo tau. Malo le faamalosi.
