Four more teams joined the Samoa Triathlon Federation Powerade Business House TRI competition on Monday night.
And this time, it was the powerhouse Ford Samoa team of Apisaloma Nimarota (swim), Durant Webster (bike) and Steve Nimarota (run) that overwhelmed in Race 2.
The Ford team was a whole minute ahead of second-placed Apia Concrete Products (ACP) who finished second two weeks in a row.
Newcomer team Australian High Commission were good enough to snare third place. Team Captain Clyde Hamilton who did the bike ride was huffing and puffing at the end of his ride.
“It was hard. I haven’t ridden a bike in years,” he said.
Magik FM and Vailima Breweries maintained their fifth and sixth placings from last week. Eric’s Bike Repairs gave it their all on the night.
But it was all good fun. The other new teams, Team EVO from Mike’s Gym in Moto’otua, Air New Zealand and Rhema Bible College got into the spirit of the competition, boots and all.
In the individual disciplines it was Magik FM who had the fastest swim. Eric’s Bike Repairs rode the fastest bike ride and Ford Samoa had the fastest run.
In the Points table, the lead has changed in the overall standings of the 4-week competition. Joint leaders of the competition are Ford Samoa and Apia Concrete Products (198pts). In third place is Magik FM, followed by TV3 and Vailima next.
There are two more races left of the inaugural Samoa Triathlon event. Race three of the competition is next Monday.
