Valentines in Samoa

Lovebirds, Sammy and Graham, have all the more reason to enjoy Valentine’s Day in Samoa.

Not only is it their first time to the islands, Dear Tourist learned that it’s their first time together overseas.

“It’s awesome to be in Samoa and on a Valentine’s Day. We’ll probably make babies,” Graham jokingly said.

Been together for a year, they described Samoa as a perfect destination for a couple getaway.

“Samoa is so beautiful, so colourful and relaxing,” Sammy said adding a cool beer would do just fine on a hot day.

“We wanted to go to the other side of the island, but the landslide is just crazy.”

“I’ve been to 22 countries, including Fiji, Bali and Thailand, but Samoa is my favourite so far.”

The couple from Sydney, Australia, arrived on Monday and will be here for 10 nights.

“The people are friendly, but we haven’t really tasted local food,” Sammy said.

Graham agreed: “Where we’re staying is beautiful at the Sinalei Reef Resort, everyone’s just friendly and helpful. We love sea food.”

“We had lobster the other night at the hotel and that was great.”

Next to Graham’s love for his girlfriend, is the ocean.

“I love fishing and surfing.”

“I am going fishing on Friday so that should be really good. Maybe catch a big tuna, that’s what I said on the plane coming here.”

“I love surfing and I haven’t found any good waves yet, but we’ve just been here two days and we hired a car to just drive around the island and have a look at the scenery.”

Graham added that Sammy grew fond of the Tosua Ocean Trench, saying that she described it as amazing.

“The water is so much cleaner, I’ve only been to a few islands in Indonesia, the water is much cleaner,” he explained.

“I like how everyone looks after their garden, and look after each other, and get their sea food.”

Sammy added: “I love home, but I love it here more. In Australia, there are a lot of waste, cars, clothes; I don’t think Australians appreciate it.”

Will they return?

“Definitely and I would recommend it,” Graham said.

“I would return with him,” Sammy added.
