The Ministry of Police is searching for two men responsible for assaulting business personality David Main during the weekend.

Assistant Police Commissioner Monalisa Tiai-Keti, in an interview with Samoa Observer, said their investigations are continuing and they are yet to find the two men responsible.

“At the moment the police have not found the men responsible for Mr. Main’s assault."

“We are still continuing with our investigation at the moment,” she said.

Speaking to Samoa Observer on Monday afternoon, three days after his assault, Mr. Main said it was the first time in his family’s 20 years of living in Samoa to be assaulted.

“Samoa is a very nice place to be so I have just taken it as two bad apples in the community. The hard part for me is that I am still trying to find all the things that are stolen."

“The police recovered my vehicle in Vaitele at around 3 o’clock in the morning on Saturday and at that time I was still at the hospital."

“So we got the car back late Saturday afternoon after the police had done all their forensic testing,” he said.

The men did not ruin the vehicle but stole all his valuables in the car and the boot.

“I had my cell phone and work laptop in the car and golf bags in the boot and whole a lot of things, but there was no damage to the car but all the valuable things were stolen."

“I’m thankful to be alive but the two men must have pushed me out of the moving car because I woke up further up the road from where I stopped."

“So police are still investigating the matter they just took my statement today."

“But I am recently confident that they will find who did this to me so I’ll just let the police do their investigation before I really say anything,” he added.

Samoa Observer understands the incident occurred at around 1 o’clock on Saturday morning.

Two unidentified men beat up Mr. Main outside McDonalds and then left his body outside of the old Chan Mow Building.

Personal effects removed from his vehicle included a Lenovo tablet and an Oppo android phone.
