A young Samoan lady, Cheryl Lei Sam graduated from the Australian National University on Wednesday morning with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and International Relations.

The twenty-two-year old daughter of Ah Mei Lei Sam from Moamoa is one of Samoa’s many  daughters, who have graduated from Australia’s top universities.

She acknowledges the support of her family.

“I also want to acknowledge the kind support of Australia Awards, the Australian Government and the Samoan Government for the opportunity which has enabled me to pursue further studies in Canberra.

“But more importantly, glory be to God for His continuous guidance and blessings which has brought me to this point of my academic journey.

“To my family and friends, thanks for your support and your continuous prayers.

One of the highlights of her journey was an opportunity to meet so many different people.

“My journey in Australia has been a life-changing experience which came with a lot of challenges.

“But I am very grateful I took this road because it has broadened my perspective of the world and I have become more open-minded and independent.

“The best part of it was creating friendships and networking with so many amazing friends and academics.”

Cheryl is looking forward to further her studies in the coming year.
