A Police raid at a tourist accommodation in Lotopa has landed a man and a woman in Court.

Aitken Keil and Kim Carruthers are facing narcotics related charges following the raid at the Sports Lodge, Lotopa, on 27 May 2016.

The pair appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday before the Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu.

The Director of the National Prosecution Office, Mauga Precious Chang asked the Court for a one-week adjournment so they could finalise the charges.

Mr. Keil and Ms. Carruthers were arrested during the raid, as the Police step up their crusade against drugs in Samoa.

Police were tipped off by a member of the public and a search warrant was issued. The raid took place at 2am that day.

According to one of the police officers, there were no methamphetamine found in the room except for a straw used to consume the drug and 17 empty plastic bags used to pack ‘ice.’

The request by the Prosecution for more time was granted and the matter has been adjourned until 20 June 2016.
