Burnt vehicle on roadside an eyesore

The burnt remains of a vehicle, which caught fire at the Cross Island Road at Tiavi, has been left there for two weeks now.

An eye witness who lives close by from where the incident happened told the Samoa Observer yesterday the owners of the vehicle have not returned since the incident.

He said there were four people who came in the vehicle when the incident happened.

There was man, a woman and two children.

“The trunk of the car was already on fire when we saw it,” he said.

“My kids and I were there at the time."

“The owners of the vehicle didn’t know that the trunk was on fire and once they realized it, they stopped here."

“So they quickly got out of the car for their safety."

The eye witness said some of the people that stopped by to see the incident contacted the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority.

“It could have been a fuel leakage or something because the fire kept on getting stronger and it caused an explosion."

“So by the time the S.F.E.S.A. arrived, the damage had already been done to the car so all they had to do was put out the fire."

“The people who came in the vehicle have already left at that time.”

The vehicle has remained on the side of the road and has become an eyesore.

It was not possible to get a comment from the relevant authorities about whose responsibility it is to remove the car.
