The F.A.O Subregional Office of the Pacific Islands has welcomed Ann Hayman in her role of Food Safety and Nutrition Consultant in Apia, Samoa.

Ms. Hayman joins the Subregional Office from New Zealand where she worked for the Ministry for Primary Industries.

She has had positions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, New Zealand Food Safety Authority and Food Standards Australia New Zealand as a manager, senior program manager, specialist adviser and senior nutritionist.

She has led and been involved in the development and implementation of food safety legislation and standards for a broad range of foods including fresh produce, infant formula, processed foods, dairy products, wine and organics from farm production through to processing and consumption.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve communities and governments within the Pacific region by continuing to build and further strengthen the F.A.O food programmes.”

A New Zealand national, Ms. Hayman holds a B Tech in Food Technology and a Master’s Degree in Nutritional Science from Massey University, and a post graduate Certificate in International Food Laws from Michigan State University.
