A member of the business community is lucky to be alive after he was brutally beaten by two men opposite McDonalds in early hours of Saturday morning.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer yesterday David Main said he is thankful he is still alive.

“I’ve been here for 20 years and I have never had a problem in my life, even with my children.

“Samoa is a very nice place to be so I have just taken it as two bad apples in the community,” he said.

When he was asked to give more information on the assault, he said he will not give many more details until the police complete their investigations.

“I don’t want the police to stop their investigation and let these two bad men get away. The hard part for me is that I am still trying to find all the things that are stolen.

“The police recovered my vehicle in Vaitele at around 3 o’clock in the morning on Saturday and at that time I was still at the hospital.

“So we got the car back late Saturday afternoon after the police had done all their forensic testing,” he said.

The men did not ruin the vehicle but all his valuables were stolen.

“I had my cell phone and work laptop in the car and golf bags in the boot and whole a lot of things, but there was no damage to the car but all the valuable things were stolen.

“I’m thankful to be alive but the two men must have pushed me out of the moving car because I woke up further up the road from where I stopped.

“So police are still investigating the matter they just took my statement today.

“But I am recently confident that they will find who did this to me so I’ll just let the police do their investigation before I really say anything,” he added.

Samoa Observer understands the incident occurred at around 1 o’clock on Saturday morning. Two unidentified men beat up Mr. Main outside McDonalds and then left his body outside of the old Chan Mow Building. Personal effects removed from his vehicle included Lenovo tablet and an Oppo android phone.

Police Assistant Commissioner Monalisa Tiai – Keti was contacted for comment but advised Samoa Observer that she has is not aware of the incident and is likely to get an update at work tomorrow.
