The Samoa Land Corporation (S.L.C) has a new Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O).
He is Ulugia Petelo Kavesi, who takes over long-term C.E.O, Peseta Afoa Arasi Tiotio.
Ulugia is currently the Manager of Administration at the Accident and Compensation Corporation (A.C.C).
Contacted for a comment yesterday, Ulugia said he was thrilled about his new role.
“I’m very happy about the appointment,” he said. “I applied to S.L.C. because like everything else, you want to move to another level and I’m thankful to God for being appointed as the C.E.O.” Ulugia, who hails from Vaiusu, has worked in A.C.C. for 16 years. He holds a Master in Business Administration, Master of Arts in Development Studies and a Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of the South Pacific (U.S.P).
Married with four children, Ulugia had also worked in the Samoa Tourism Authority where he was the Manager of Research and Statistics.
He is also an Agricultural Economist.
Ulugia is among a number of new C.E.Os recently appointed, including the new C.E.O of S.I.FA, To’otooleaava Dr. Fanaafi Aiono Le Tagaloa who is replacing the late Alosamoa Erna Vaai – Aiono.
The Samoa Observer also understands that the incumbent C.E.O of the Samoa Tourism Authority, Papali’i Sonja Hunter, has been reappointed for another term.
Asked for a comment before he left for Europe, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi said Cabinet had made the appointments for some government offices. Tuilaepa, however, declined to say who they were except that the appointments had been made for the Samoa Land Corporation, Samoa Tourism Authority and the Samoa International Finance Agency. “It’s going through the usual process to inform the applicants first,” said Tuilaepa.
He added that there is no need for the media to worry about who the appointees were as the government will make an announcement at the right time. Last weekend, the Press Secretariat only confirmed the appointment of the new C.E.O for S.I.F.A.
