Luke and his niece, Samantha, couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax than in Samoa.
Apart from a getaway trip, this was also a time to strengthen family ties.
Luke’s sister is married to a Samoan, so they found a good reason to enjoy the islands by coming to celebrate his sister’s father-in-law’s 70th birthday.
It is their first time in Samoa and it was a perfect place to escape the busy city life.
Luke lives in Hamilton, New Zealand.
They are in Samoa with Luke’s parents. They arrived on the island last week Saturday in the morning and leave today.
They stayed in Savaii first then came over to Upolu last week Tuesday.
After this celebration, they’ve decided to enjoy in the comfort of a resort and explore the islands more.
The differences between Samoa and New Zealand are remarkable not only with the people, culture but also the food.
“We tasted the bread fruit and lobster in Savaii. Whatever food we have tried here has been very good. It is very different and special,” Luke shared with the Dear Tourist team.
They rented a car and drove around the island, making a stop at the Tosua Ocean Trench.
“We were a little disappointed that at the trench they said it would have clams to eat, but there were none. It would have been nice,” he said.
“There are two sides of the culture with I have seen here. For example, on Wednesday we saw very friendly people and some who run into tourists and just say some rude things to them. It is just like everywhere in the world.”
The family is staying at the Taumeasina Island Resort. They described the atmosphere at the resort as friendly and kind.
“The breakfast is just awesome. You can eat as much as you want from the buffet. The selection is great; there are so many different things to choose from.”
For Luke, there is nothing to change about Samoa.
“I like it how it is here. It seems to be very natural and I would not like to see a lot of changes.”
Luke is considering another trip to the islands.
