The hearing of a former Immigration Officer, David Uaine, accused over the alleged sale of Samoan passports overseas has been scheduled for 22 January 2018.

The matter was subject for criminal mention before Supreme Court Justice Vui Clarence Nelson yesterday.

When the matter was called, lawyer Unasa Iuni Sapolu filed a discovery order against the Police. The Prosecutor is Leone Su’a-Mailo, of the Attorney General’s Office.

Last week, Uaine was granted bail during his initial appearance.

He faces charges of forgery and could potentially face more charges as the police have yet to finalize the criminal charges.

Uaine was arrested and charged two weeks ago following a lengthy Police investigation over claims about Samoan passports being sold online to places as far away as South Africa.

Uaine was ordered to surrender his passport.
