The Queensland Samoa touch team have done.

Yesterday, they conquered their opponent in a final that will be hard to forget by the Samoan touch community at the Tuana’imato Hockey Stadium, beating West Tigers, 9-8.

With touch rugby one expects there to be a lot of running, flowing plays, and game smart tactics; yesterdays touch rugby finals had it all.

The men’s final between the Queensland Samoa Touch Association and West Tigers was an intense one with both teams pushing the limits.

But there could only be one winner; and that spot was claimed by the Queenslanders.

The skills of the visiting team from Australia who was quickly bestowed the title of ‘team to beat’ at the beginning of the tournament proved to be slightly better than our valiant locals.

The match went back and forth; with each team desperately going for the try lines the match could have swayed any way.

A last minute try was awarded to the West Tigers but was a little too late; accepting their one point loss, they joined the victors in a group huddle with words of encouragement.
