Inequality alarming indeed

Dear Editor,

Re: Inequality reaches alarming levels, report finds

Thank you for finally reporting on this significant finding regarding inequality.

I was getting a bit upset after hearing the findings in the report that the only reports from government and the overseas articles were reporting about the improvements on poverty but seemed to be completely ignoring the part of the study which dealt with inequality.

This gap growing between the rich and the poor in Samoa is actually more important and more relevant to the social decay and increase in crime rates, alcoholism and spousal abuse.

This needs to be dealt with or the problems we are seeing will continue to get worse. No amount of prayer will fix this glaring problem.

It will take a responsible government who are accountable and transparent and honest. This is sadly not the government currently in power in Samoa. Fa’afetai.
