Sanele Ameto is baker of pork-buns (kekepua’a), donuts and German-buns.

Sanele together with his wife have a small canteen for their food products at Satapuala Primary School.

The 30-year-old believes that this is one of the skills he has inherited so he could put into good use for his community.

“No one was put in this world without a purpose,” he says to the Village Voice.

“Baking is what I do and I’m even more blessed that I have a wife at home who helps me out on this.

“We sell them to the pupils of Satapuala during lunch time, it’s a lot of work but we got the hang of it.

“I’m just thankful that my kids get to eat what I make everyday as they go to the same school I’m selling my bakeries.

Sanele is a father of four and all of them are attending Satapuala Primary School.

“We get about a $100-00 from selling our bakeries and the first thing we look at when we get that money is our kids and what they need.

“Whether people say life is easy or hard, I think it depends on the person and how are they living.

“You know you need to be someone who walks the talk but not just talk.

Sanele is a hardworking man and one of his ambitions is to be able to get an opportunity to develop his baking skills.

“I don’t want my baking skills to last in just one place. I don’t want my knowledge to end here because I believe that there’s always room for improvements.

“So hopefully in the future I’m capable to work for any baking company to broaden my knowledge and skills on baking.

“I know we don’t earn much from selling our bakeries but it’s the only way we can make money at the moment.

“We all know that nowadays, you got to have something to depend on otherwise you have nothing at all.”
