A traffic charge against Falealili Sisifo’s new Member of Parliament, Aumua Isaia Lameko, has been withdrawn and dismissed.

The decision was made in the District Court yesterday.

Represented by lawyer, Leiataualesa Jerry Brunt, Aumua had faced a charge of negligent driving causing injury.

He appeared before Judge Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke.

Inspector Leuluaiali’i Malama appeared for the Prosecution.

The matter had been adjourned from 5 April 2016 when it was first mentioned upon an application by the Police to give them some time to review the charge.

In Court, Inspector Leuluaiali’i made an application to withdraw the charge against the accused. He said they did not have evidence to proceed with the hearing.

Lawyer, Lei’ataualesa Jerry did not oppose to the application.

As a result, Judge Lei’ataualesa accepted the application and dismissed the matter.

The charge against Aumua follows an incident prior to the General Election on 4 March 2016. The incident occurred on 29 January 2016 at Malaemalu.
