Three males charged with drug possession

Three males were charged with possession of narcotics last week.

This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu.

“The first matter is a 27 year old who was caught on the seawall while police were going about their regular checks,” said Su’a.

This matter was reported to the police last week on Saturday evening.

“The 27 year old was drinking with some friends when the police approached and searched them and found a leaf of marijuana inside his pocket.

“He was held in custody but has been bailed to wait for his court appearance on the 27th of this month.

“He has to sign in at the police office every Friday.”

The second matter was reported to the police on Wednesday last week.

 “The accused is an 18 year old from one of the villages at Tuamasaga,” he said.

“Hewas an employee of Amau Supermarket as a stock person (teu oloa).

“However he was caught on surveillance cameras stealing two boxes of tuna (pusa makoi).

“He put two boxes of tuna inside the rubbish bin and he collected them after work.

“He was brought to the police station and they found marijuana inside his pockets.

“He is now facing two charges, theft as a servant and possession of narcotics.”

Su’a said the 18 year old is scheduled to appear in court on the 20th of this month.

The third incident concerns a 19 year old who was reported by one of the passengers of a bus heading to Falelatai.

“Some of the passengers noticed he had marijuana and they contacted the police at Faleolo,” said Su’a.

“He was stopped by the police and leaves of marijuana were found in his possession.

“At the moment he is on bail on the condition that he has to sign in at the Faleolo Police Station as he awaits his court appearance on  the 20th of this month.”
