We need change for the better

Alai’asa Elena Tovi’o Laufasa is one of the women candidates stepping forward to make a difference.

She is contesting the Anoama’a Sasae seat with the belief that Samoa needs a change for the better.

For her, change starts at her constituency where she said there are urgent needs that must be met.

“We need to fix our access roads, our water, improve our children’s education and our district hospital because I know the service is not good for us,” said Alai’asa.

Alai’asa said better access roads result in people being able to help themselves through agricultural developments.

Alai’asa said their District Hospital is another serious problem for her district.

She said the service at the District Hospital needs to be upgraded, to cater for the needs of the people.

The service needs to be improved and it needs to be available 24/7 to the whole district to save the long trip to Apia in times of emergencies.

The 71-year-old candidate, said this is her second time running as a Member of the Parliament.

She ran as a Tautua candidate five years ago and she is still fully supportive of the opposition party.

“This is my second run for a seat in Parliament, and I fully support the Tautua Samoa Party.”

Alai’asa hopes that with her vision, her district will support her in the upcoming General Election.

She also fears for the younger generation of her constituency, saying there are many youths from her district who are unemployed.

She said it is all because of the lack of education.  If they had good education this wouldn’t have happened.

Alai’asa said to counter this problem, there is a need for government assistance.

“The government and the district needs to work together to avoid the problem,” said Alai’asa

Anoama’a Sasae district consists of seven villages; Falevao, Lalomauga, Saletele, Sauano, Lufilufi, Manunu and Falefa.

Alai’asa confirmed that there are three candidates from Falefa, but she is the only one running as a Tautua Samoa Party candidate.
