“This is paradise for us”

Spending their last day in Samoa, Philipp and Nicole were braving the sun and taking a last stroll around Apia.

Stopping off at the S.T.A. fale for some last-minute information, the couple chatted with Dear Tourist about how their week-long trip had been so far in Samoa.

The German globe trekkers were travelling through New Zealand when they decided to check out the Pacific Islands since they were in the neighbourhood.

Following a recommendation that Samoa was the home to the friendliest people, they booked their flights.

Out of the two, Philipp was the most fluent in English and the only thing they regretted was not engaging with the locals more, however both of them summed up Samoa in one word which is universal in being a most sought after destination.

“Paradise,” said Nicole. “This is a paradise for us,” Philipp added.

“Because of our limited English, we didn’t really talk to the locals much, but they were very friendly with us. If we come again next time, I would definitely like to see the same things and also make it out to Savai’i because I hear that it’s very beautiful and even more of a paradise.”

Even though they had only one week, the couple made good use of their time in Upolu taking in as much of the island as they could.

“We have been here on this island (Upolu) and we wanted to cover all the places we saw online. So far it’s a pretty nice island. We rented a car for two days and went to To Sua Ocean Trench, Piula Caves and Paradise Beach, Lalomanu Beach – it’s so beautiful.”

The couple loved their travels through Australia and New Zealand. They felt lucky that they made the decision to veer off their itinerary to come to Samoa.

“Yes we would recommend Samoa to visit,” said Philipp.

“We came from New Zealand where we have been travelling and we decided to come here for one week. We chose to come to Samoa because of the lovely people and yes what Nicole said, it’s paradise for us. And best of all it’s a short way from New Zealand than from Germany and much cheaper to fly from Europe too.”
