The new year is a big one for Rugby League Samoa.

Top of the agenda is the World Cup.

And a number of top Samoan internationals plying their trade across the globe are keen to don the blue jersey for the event.

Preparations are well underway.

On 6 May 2017, Samoa will participate in an exciting triple-header against England Knights.

The line up will be Toa Samoa vs. England Knights, Fiji Bati vs Cook Islands and Tonga vs. PNG.

The Toa and Knights are not new to each other.

The last time the two heavy hitters clashed was during the Four Nation in 2014 and much has changed since then.

This will definitely be a match league fans will not forget.

Rugby League Samoa’s President, Tagaloa Fa’afouina Sua, confirmed Samoa’s participation in the triple header and is ecstatic and looking forward to the test match.

Tagaloa has been in contact with Head Coach Matt Parish but suggested the line up will be heavily dependent on player availability.

The rugby league season kicks off on the 2nd of March and from then on its full speed ahead and league schedule is jam packed around the time of the test match.

Then there’s the State of Origins in Brisbane on May 31st , which many Toa Samoa players have been named to the squads.

We must wait in great anticipation to see who will put their hand up for their country.

This event will be a lead up to the biggest event in rugby league, the World Cup. The Rugby League World Cup will take place from 26 October- 2 December 2017.  The host countries will be Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand with matches occurring throughout the South Pacific Region.

Samoa is pooled with New Zealand, Scotland and Tonga.

League fans rejoice and prepare for another great year.
