Setting the record straight

Dear Editor

Re: The continuous untruthful commentary and negativity around the relationship and credibility of event organiser and president of the Samoan Triathlon federation Seti Afoa and the Oceania triathlon Union.

I wish to clarify for all/any interested parties.

As with any organisation and regardless of the best intentions from many individuals, Samoan triathlon has had its share of challenges and difficulty over the past  18 months.

It is important that I recognise and thank all past contributors to our sport for their collective contribution.

As the  President of the Oceania Triathlon Union and to remove any doubt, Seti Afoa is the recognized, elected President of the Samoan Triathlon Federation.

Within his capacity as President, Seti has been invited by the I.T.U. and accepted to attend and contribute to both the upcoming December Oceania, and I.T.U. voting congress meetings in Madrid.

Oceania triathlon looks forward to watching the progress and providing new opportunities in particular for local Samoan youth into the future under the guidance of Seti and his elected committee.

Further the Oceania Union via its development budget, is currently reviewing how best to invest into Samoa triathlon in 2017 in particular with the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games scheduled for 2018.

Yours in triathlon

Terry Sheldrake M.N.Z.M.

I.T.U. Executive Board Member

President:  Oceania Triathlon Union
