‘One connecting thread'

"One connecting thread" was the theme for the Ah Ching Family reunion held earlier this week.

The occasion was an opportunity for the family to remember and celebrate their ancestor Hiau Ah Ching who was one of the original Chinese settlers who settled here in Samoa during the late 1800s.

Over 150 family members came together from various parts of the U.S.A, New Zealand, Australia, American Samoa, Australia, Hawaii, and of course here from Savai'i and Upolu.

It was a fun-filled three days of activities including a picnic at Survivor Beach Falelatai, a visit to their Ah Ching family cemetery at Vailoa and a special family fireside where the genealogy of their ancestors was revealed to those present.

Tears of joy were shed at the close, as lasting connections were made, hearts bound together with plans for the next reunion and unforgettable memories were knit into that “One Connecting Thread".
