Joseph Parker and Duco Events

Dear Editor

I suppose there have been many reflections on Samoa’s son Lupesoliai La’aulioleMalietoa Joseph Parker’s recent fight with Romanian Razvan Cojanu.

Most in their disappointment about the lack of ‘fuego’ in the fight but perhaps also because we had seen a better and satisfying match between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko.

Duco Events, responsible for Parker’s promotions have advised that the recent Parker fight was the last to be held in New Zealand for now; the impression is that Parker is moving to fight elsewhere but it doesn’t sound like the States or Britain.

It is said that Parker’s contract with Duco Events is also coming to an end so the question is – should Parker continue with Duco Events or is this the perfect time to cut his losses and find a better promoter?.....you have your answer and so do I...........personally feel it is time for “change”.

My concern is that as long as Parker stays with Duco Events – this promoter will continue to ask Samoa for assistance. Had I the opportunity – I would say to Duco Events – please stay away from Samoa. I know there are much better international promoters in the United States for example internationally renowned Bob Arum.

I think after the most recent disappointment whereby the fight between Parker and Hugie Fury did not eventuate – it is only suiting for Parker to change.

I am bothered on why New Zealand did not accept their request but like I said...that’s just me. Maybe if Samoa would like to donate in the future – they can give directly to Parker and his family, his mother Sala… in that way – we can rest assured – it is going directly to Samoa’s son and not another Events promoter who is in it just for their own gain.

Like I said…but that’s just me.
