Team Samoa at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia, is guaranteed another medal, this time coming from boxing.

Ato Leau Plodzicki Faoagali is through to the semifinal of the boxing lightweight division and is guaranteed a minimum of a bronze medal.

He will take on Harley O’Reilly of Canada later today with the winner fighting for the gold medal.

The 19-year-old Faoagali, based in Sydney, is the defending champion of the Fight for Marist II.

Other members of the Samoan boxing team including Henry Tyrell and Frank Masoe have fallen just short of medal contention.
