A 26-year-old man from Vaigaga was killed last Friday when a drinking session turned ugly at Lotofaga.

This was confirmed by the Spokesperson for the Police, Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu, yesterday.

According to the Police, the deceased, whose named and identity is withheld for now, was drinking with the other men when an argument ensued.

The argument led to a fight, which is what is believed to have caused the death.

Su’a could not discuss the details of the incident saying they are investigating the matter.

But he confirmed that two men have been arrested and charged with murder in relation to the incident.

They are scheduled to appear in Court on 1 May 2017.

This is the latest in a string on incidents where lives have been lost during incidents involving alcohol.

Just last month, a 34-year-old male from Aleipata, Mauaiseaso Teofilo, was charged with murder in relation to the death of a 45-year-old male from the same district.

The man had allegedly killed him using a 2x4 piece of wood after a drinking session went wrong.

Su’a said the accused turned himself in to the police.

Teofilo appeared before His Honor, Chief Justice Patu Tiavasu’e Falefatu Sapolu in the Supreme Court on Monday.

He was told to find a lawyer before he returns to Court.

The matter has been adjourned until 24 April 2017.
