The Police have turned to members of the public for help as they hunt for the person or persons responsible for a elderly mother alleged to have been raped before she was murdered in her own home at Faleasi’u last month.

Police Spokesperson, Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu, said the Police are seeking information that could lead to the identification of the people responsible.

He confirmed on Thursday that the 66-year-old pensioner was found dead at her house.

“A post mortem has determined that she was murdered,” he said.

He would not elaborate on the details saying their investigation is continuing.

“No one has been charged yet,” Su’a said. “We are urging members of the public to help us with any information that could lead to the people who did this.”

The incident occurred last month when the 66-year-old was discovered dead at her house.

A family member said her throat was crushed as if someone had strangled her and she suffered injuries on her head.

“I could not believe that someone could do something like that to her.

“It’s hard to believe because everyone in this village knows her. She’s a hardworking woman that keeps her land clean and tidy.”
