The love of football was evident at the JS Blatter Stadium on Thursday where the Private School’s football Competition kicked off.

Decked out in their proud school colours, students from Vaiala Beach School, Robert Louis Primary School, Samoa Primary School, Le Amosa Primary School, Peace Chapel Primary School, Ah Mu Academy and the L.D.S Church Middle School revelled in a day of football fun to remember.

“We don’t like soccer, we love it,” was a statement echoed by the budding future stars.

The tournament is a partnership between the Football Federation Samoa and the Private Primary Schools.

Initiated in 2011, the organisers see it as a tool to develop soccer at the grassroots level by providing youngsters with the opportunity to - not only learn new and develop their soccer skills but also participate in a fun, competitive environment while creating relationship with their peers.

The Competition is an annual event hosted by the Football Federation Samoa / Private Schools Principal in March of every year.

The tournament will run for four weeks on Thursdays.

The tournament gives the participating schools not only the opportunity to experience and exercise football but it also encourages the students to be active and lead healthy lifestyles.
