The Samoa Ports Authority (S.P.A) has a new General Manager.

He is Aiganalaavasa Uialatea Asofa Fereti of Aele-fou.

The appointment was confirmed by S.P.A’s Acting General Manager, Mautanoa Mapusaga Tanuvasa, yesterday.

Mautanoa told the Samoa Observer that a Cabinet directive was issued this week, approving the appointment of Aiganalaavasa to the position.

The new G.M. will most likely start in early March.

Aiganalaavasa replaces outgoing G.M, Tufuga Fagaloa Tufuga.

Aiga is currently working as the Director of Transport and Support Service at the Apia, Tokelau office.

Contacted for a comment yesterday, Aiga said he is meeting with the S.P.A. board next week to discuss the appointment. He declined to say anything further.

The new G.M. has worked for five years as the Director of Transport for Tokelau.

Prior to that he had worked for the Pacific Forum Line and the Polynesian Shipping Limited.

He has experience of more than ten years in the shipping industry.
