Police Inspector Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona has been suspended for contempt of court.

This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson, Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu, yesterday during a press conference.

“The inspector’s suspension is a result of a charge of contempt of court that was brought in to us,” he said.

“I don’t know who the complainant is but I can confirm that the Inspector has been suspended until the case is finished.”

Acting Police Commissioner Fata Leiataua Aviga confirmed that Maotaoalii was suspended last week Friday.

“When I took over as the Acting Commissioner the inspector was already suspended for contempt of court,” he said.

“I was told that he will be back once the court case is finished.”

“He is suspended with full pay.”
