Change the colonial mindset

Dear Editor,

Re: Learn to plan ahead

Here’s a thought Maria.

How about changing the Christian colonial mindset that shames poor people into thinking they need to buy expensive clothes for white Sunday?

A simple dinner with family and friends with singing should be sufficient. To plan by trying to save money for this is even too much. Don’t spend money on things like this if you don’t have money.

This poor shaming by churches and business and banks on the poor is a sin.

You should be telling your people to save for important things like their children’s education.

To hell with new white expensive clothes for white Sunday. If there is one thing Samoan people have enough of its white church clothes.

To tell them to save for more is ridiculous and only makes money for you!

I bet you don’t struggle to buy your children new white clothes for white Sunday because of the fees you charge giving financial advice and opening accounts for these people so they die trying to save for white Sunday.
