Man pleads guilty to string of theft incidents

A young man is facing a long spell in jail after he pleaded guilty to three different theft incidents totaling more than $20,000.

Faifua Taamilosaga Savaiinaea appeared before Chief Justice, His Honor Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu last week.

The prosecutor was Leone Su’a-Mailo of the Attorney General’s Office.

The first incident involved the Amau Supermarket at Saleufi.

Savaiinaea was accused of stealing $2,092 from the store on 29 July 2017.

The second incident involved JM Gardens Company at Lotopa.

Savaiinae on 26th July 2017 broke into JM Garden’s property at Lotopa and stole $2,300 and $581 worth of goods.

The accused also damaged the company’s property to the tune of $17,018.80.

The third incident occurred on 28 July 2017.

He unlawfully entered a shop owned by Fatima Strickland, damaging a screen wire and stealing juice bottles.

Savai’inaea pleaded guilty to all the charges and he is remanded in custody to await his sentence.

The matter has been adjourned until 27 September 2017 for sentence before Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren.
