Samoa’s hospitality is indescribable.

For Pauline Fenton, 37, and her friend, Aaliyah Da Silva, 15, from Sydney, Australia, this is what makes their stay more enjoyable.

It is their first time in Samoa. Pauline is originally from Papua New Guinea.

“For me it feels like a home visit,” Pauline explained to Dear Tourist. 

“Samoa is a lot similar to my motherland, the culture, the nature.”

Their mutual Samoan friend is soon to tie the knot, which adds a bonus to their trip.

But Pauline does not need a wedding to come to Samoa. 

“I heard about Samoa in Australia and even if we did not have the wedding, I probably would have come here anyway,” she said.

Pauline and Aaliyah arrived last week Friday. They have been to the markets in town and the beaches in Samoa as well.

“We are really enjoying our time here, it is wonderful,” Aaliyah said.

“I have been to Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Fiji. This island seems to be a lot more laid back and relaxed. Our friend who is getting married is Samoan and she let us see a little bit of this interesting country,” Pauline said.

“We love the tropical weather, the culture and the service is absolutely lovely here in the resort,” they shared.

Pauline and Aaliyah’s family are staying at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel.

“The traffic is really slow and the driving here is very easy. I feel absolutely safe to drive around the island,” Pauline said.

They are already thinking of returning.

“I would love to bring my two children, one is 14 and the other is 15. I want to show them this beautiful place,” Pauline said.
