Business System Limited together with the S.C.O.P.A Netball Club two weeks ago to host the Back to School Netball Tournament and Nobesity Programme for the secondary and primary schools of Savaii at the Don Bosco College Netball Courts.

S.C.O.P.A Netball and B.S.L were humbled to have witnessed pure netball talents that are thriving in the big island of Savaii. The one dayers Back to School Netball tournament was a huge success especially for the schools that were able to attend, and the day was filled with such enthusiasm from all the teams in both the Under 12 and Under 18 grades.

The Tournament was on the 27th February 2016 and was officially opened with a prayer by Father Visesio, Vice Principal of Don Bosco College in Salelologa. He encouraged the children/coaches/supporters and organisers to reflect on the Spirit of God through the Back to School Tournament and to use the event to have fun and socialise with other youths from other schools around the island.

He also shared with the children on the importance of being active in sports and physical activities and the importance of practising simple steps to healthy living like – eating healthy foods and staying away from habits not good for your long term health such as smoking, drinking alcohols and eating fatty and sugary foods.

The president of the S.C.O.P.A netball Club, Alatina Ioelu, spoke on behalf of the S.C.O.P.A netball club to acknowledge the Business Systems Limited in believing and supporting the S.C.O.P.A Netball Club’s humble initiative which has enabled the SAVAII tournament to take place. Background

In 2014, the S.C.O.P.A Netball Club designed a new community development initiative which focused primarily on the young generation. In February 2015, the Club launched its ‘BSL Back-to-School Netball Tournament’ In Upolu in partnership with other like minded programs also happening within the community for young people such as the Nobesity Program.

The overall objectives of the ‘BSL Back-to-School Netball Tournament’ Initiative is to engage with young people through netball and sports and:

1) Raise their consciousness and enthusiasm for the beginning of another academic year.

2) Promote healthy living to children, parents, families and teachers;

3) Promote the development of netball in the community as an inclusive sport;

4) Strengthen partnership between schools, B.S.L, Netball Samoa, S.C.O.P.A Netball Club, the private companies dealing with the promotion of education and services, and other relevant stakeholders.

This is an annual tournament by S.C.O.P.A netball club and one to look forward to.

S.C.O.P.A acknowledges Business Systems Limited and all the many corporate sponsors and individual supporters who contributed to the successful implementation of the BSL 1 Day Back to School Netball Tournament. They also thanked Don Bosco College in Salelologa as well as the many schools and principals who supported the initiative.
