Tasks and responsibilities that come with fatherhood require a lot of hard work and commitment.

And this is why fatherhood does not come easy for most men.

The opinion was voiced by 40-year-old father, Ivo Pesamino from the village of Mulivai Safata.

He says being a father cannot be done in half measures.

“I have six children, three are in school and the other two are still babies,” he said. “As parents, we all want our children to grow up to be responsible and good people and that’s why I quit my job and became farmer to provide for my family.

“I am farmer and I grow taro, bananas, and vegetables to earn for a living.”

He also commented on the expensive cost of living.

“It is no secret that raising a family requires more than just “walking straight into it and then you live happier ever after,” Ivo said.

“We have to work to the best of our abilities to raise our children if not they’ll starve to death and that’s very sad.

“We all know that even if you have only one child, it’s really hard so the image of my children keep me going, they are my first priority”.

“Yes, I continued pushing myself to work because I love my children and I keep my faith by telling myself that as long as I keep going, I can accomplish just about anything.

“I tell you, there are wonderful highs and wonderful lows, but we must have a heart to love our family so that we can surely cope with the high cost of living that we are living in today.”

Ivo said he worked at one of the companies in town a few years ago.

“I just can’t stretch my salary to the other week and that was the main reason I quit my job to become a farmer,” said Tulia.

“I knew if I continued on with that job, my children would be no longer in school and my family would starve to death.”

This is what Ivo said saved his family and provided for his children’s needs.

“Up until today I didn’t want to go back to work but become a farmer and that’s how my family survives up until today.”
