Tologata Tile Leia Tuimalealiifano.

Tologata Tile Leia Tuimalealiifano has been given the greenlight by Cabinet to continue as the General Manager of the Electric Power Corporation (E.P.C) for a third three year term since 2011.

A Mechanical Engineer by profession, Tologata graduated from the University of Technology in Papua New Guinea in 1986 and joined EPC in 1987. 

He also holds a Master of Business Administration from La Trobe University in Melbourne and Association of Professional Engineers, Scientist and Managers Australia (A.P.E.S.M.A). 

And a Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Management with distinction from Massey University in New Zealand.

 He is a Charted Professional Engineer of the Institution of Professional Engineers of Samoa. 

His 30 year services with E.P.C. includes ten years as the Manager of the Generation Division of EPC from 1998 to 2008. 

 

He became the first Samoa engineer to be appointed as Project Manager for the biggest ever Power Sector Expansion Project from 2008 to 2011. 

He resigned from his Project Manager position when Cabinet appointed him to become the General Manager of E.P.C. after the Performance Audit of E.P.C. in 2011. 

He is married with two children from the village of Falelatai. 

During his last two terms, Tologata achievements include;

• Improve the quality of electricity supply

• Reduce system losses

• Reduce price of electricity

• Iinstalled 15MW capacity of solar

• The first wind farm of 350KW at Vailoa Aleipata, 

• State of the art diesel power station at Fiaga, 

• Underground electricity circuits.

• Remote control centre at Fuluasou

• Refurbishment of Fale o le Fee, Alaoa and Samasoni hydro power plants damaged from cyclone EVAN in 2012

• Construction of new hydro power plants at Fausaga/Tafitoala, Fuluasou and Vailoa Savaii.

• Secure US$65 million dollar grant from GCF to construct flood control dam at Alaoa. 

Some of his initiatives already underway to be completed;

• Battery storage and smart grid to address the instability of grid from penetration of transient renewable energy and to store access renewable for later use

• Smart meters for remote reading and monitoring

• System loss reduction program, further development of hydros

• Electric vehicles

• Restructuring of electricity tariff.
