At 25-years-of age, Maniniosomoi Ape Solia Tuna, knows how difficult it is to be a single mother.

The woman from Fasito’o-uta lives with her mother, son and brother.

She has been looking for a job for a while now.

“Relying on money from different sources like the plantation and compassionate family members is relatively hard,” she said. “Especially when I, have a son to care for.”

Speaking to the Village Voice yesterday Maniniosomoi said: “Life is not easy and in order to survive you must work hard.

“I have been trying my best to provide whatever I can for my family; but sometimes it’s just not enough.”

The problems for Maniniosomoi started when her father passed away in May.

This means she has to step up to provide.

“I am now the man of the house so to speak and I have a responsibility to my son, and family.

“Recently I have been going around seeking job opportunities at Chinese shops, our local shops even restaurants as a waitress; however no luck yet.

“I don’t care how much I make or how long it will take before I can land a job but I will keep on trying.

“I am not going to give up.”

The single mother said she has learnt her lessons from what has happened to her.

“No one is perfect in this world, we all make mistakes, “she said

“Therefore, I am willing to make a change and looking for a job is one of my many steps of changes.”

Maniniosomoi is fit for any type of job. She said she is a fast learner.

“With any job offered to me, I’ll make sure that I will work hard and give it my all. I am an honest person,” she said.

“I think these are some of the positive characteristicsthat employers look for in the people, they hire.”
