Our future leaders

Dear Editor,

Re: Of gangs and problems in Samoa.

We all know what the problem is and we all know the solution to the problems.

But if we don’t have a leader in our government to seriously address, the poverty, education and youth unemployment issues and if parents negate their obligations and responsibilities to “parent,” properly care and supervise their children, then gangs will exist.

This is a problem that requires all parties to participate and agree to the solution.

These are children who have lost hope with their home life, families and anyone of authority. They’ve out grown their school years where they were not properly nurtured and probably ridiculed because they came from poor home situations with no support system to help them understand the schoolwork.

Where do they turn? To others like them and because the education system doesn’t foster home assistance and individual help for this segment of our society...these kids will continue to gravitate towards others like them for comfort and support.

Wake up Samoa, these youths maybe the leaders, the movers and shakers of our future. Don’t laugh; God has a way of making us see who we are!

Luke 18:27 “things, which are impossible for men are possible with God.”
